Ms. Yodit Shibru is the founder and Principal of Global Strategic Advisors Group, LLC, a Washington, DC-based business consulting firm. With extensive experience in government procurement and international business expansion, she specializes in helping small businesses obtain local, state, and federal certifications and pursue opportunities in both domestic and global markets.

Ms. Shibru has been a trusted advisor for the DC Small Business Development Center (DCSBDC) Network for over a decade, offering guidance in areas like business plan development, loan readiness, market research, certifications, and international trade. As the former Center Director at the Anacostia Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), she led the development and execution of programs for small businesses in Washington, DC's Ward 7 and Ward 8. She also managed a team of business consultants, ensuring effective service delivery to local entrepreneurs.

With over 24 years of international experience in humanitarian and development programs across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, Ms. Shibru has gained a wealth of cross-cultural expertise. Notably, she served as the Chairperson of the Commission on African Affairs, appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser, where she served for three years.

Ms. Shibru holds a Master’s degree in International Development and Education from George Washington University and a B.A. in Business Administration from Strayer University. She also earned an Executive Coaching Certificate from Howard University/Sherpa Program. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Ms. Shibru was named the 2022 DC-SBDC State Star, highlighting her exceptional counseling services to small businesses in Washington, DC.
